U of G Researchers Awarded $1.5m to Study Effects of Oil Exposure on Pacific Salmon

University of Guelph researchers are working to protect and conserve Pacific salmon populations by studying how diluted bitumen (dilbit), a type of crude oil, affects the animal’s health and life cycle.  Dr. Sarah Alderman and Dr. Todd Gillis, professors in the Department of Integrative BiologyCollege of Biological Science, will receive nearly $1.5 million in federal funding over 30 months from Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) under the Oceans Protection Plan program. Further details about this project can be found in the University of Guelph’s press release here.
